In Haifa, located on the slopes of Mount Carmel, you will find a spectacular, blue bay overlooked by numerous locations in the town and offering its visitors clean bathing beaches, beautiful scenery on the Carmel, places of entertainment for all ages, the Bahai Gardens which are a focal point in themselves, a large and authentic port, cultural centers, museums, theatres, cinemas etc.

The town of Haifa is the third largest town in Israel and it has 267,000 residents whereby the population consists of a combination of Jews, Muslim and Christian Arabs who together constitute about 10% of the town’s residents, and also Christians who are not Arabs, Bahais and Druze.
The massive expansion of the town began after the huge immigration of immigrants from Europe, Asia and North Africa during the fifties. The Technion, the most veteran academic institute in Israel is located in Haifa and was founded in 1924.
In 1959 the Carmelit was constructed, Haifa’s underground railway which links between the downtown and the Carmel with several stops en route. The climate in the town is moderate and relatively comfortable.
The winter months with the most rainfall are between November and February. In the summer months (June-September) the temperature is comfortable and for the most part is never more than 30 degrees.
In Haifa there is a train service with 6 stations and much and diverse public transport and many main traffic arteries pass through it and will take you anywhere in the town.

Haifa is noted in the scriptures and in the 3rd century BCE, it is told that Elijah the Project hid in a cave which has received the name “Elijah’s Cave” and is located in the Kiryat Eliezer neighbourhood to the west of the town.
At the beginning of the 11th century the town was conquered by the Crusaders, which brought out total destruction of the entire Jewish community there. Modern Haifa as we know it today started coming together and took on its present layout during the rule of the Ottomans.
In 1761 the Old City was destroyed and rebuilt in the location of the current downtown. Downtown today is known for its narrow alleyways and the old houses which constitute one of the main characteristics of the place. There are many workers cafes there and at night you can find clubs, some of them a bit dubious.


For shopping lovers, big shopping malls were constructed during the nineties, the Heart of the Bay Mall, Haifa Mall and the Grand Mall, in which you will be able to find a wide variety of shops and restaurants.


A few words on the attractions in the town of Haifa: The Bahai Gardens are the cultivated gardens with the golden dome and they constitute the spiritual center of the Bahai religion there.
The National Science, Technology and Space Museum is located in the town and will supply you with an enriching educational experience.
The Stella Maris Church on Mount Carmel is one of the observation points overlooking Haifa, from here you can descend by cable car down to the Ban Galim Promenade where you will be able to relax in one of the coffee shops and restaurants on the shore line.
