Bat Yam is a very aesthetic and well maintained town.
It boasts a long beachside promenade and has a beautiful blue coastline.
Bat Yam is very accessible by private and public transport from various areas, however the distances are relatively short between the points of interest in the town and they are what make it ideal for cycling and even walking.
The history of Bat Yam is short as compared to other towns in Israel.
Bat Yam was founded by a group who belonged to the “Bayit Ve’gan” and in 1936 it was declared as a regional council and the name changed to Bat Yam which is an abbreviation of Bat Jerusalem as proposed by Rabbi Cook.
In the War of Independence the town served as a base for actions against the Arabs in the area.
In 1958 Bat Yam was declared a town in Israel.
In recent years an international architectural and urban landscape biennale takes place in the town the purpose of which is to make living in urban areas of a higher standard, more vibrant and comfortable while aspiring to green and environmentally friendly activities.
Within the framework of the biennale thousands of plants have been planted in the town the purpose of which is attract more butterflies to the town, apart from the 15 species of butterfly that are already attracted to the beach and town naturally.
Between the central sites of the town you will of course find the beach.
There are a large number of beaches such as the famous Rock Beach, this is a beach which has a big breakwater which creates a large and comfortable pool which is suitable, among others, for children. Along the promenade you will find many restaurants of various styles and mainly in the summer months there are various activities along the promenade such as street performances, booths and various other performances.
The hotels in the town are for the most part along the promenade. Additional sites that you can visit in the town are: the municipal cultural center, the Wave Observation Point, a monument to the fallen in Israel’s wars, the Meginim Square also known as the “Memorial” in the memory of the defenders of Bat Yam who fell while defending the town, the Menachem Begin town park, the amphitheatre which is one of the prominent symbols of the town and is located at the end of the promenade. Shopping lovers will find several shopping centers in the town such as the Bat Yam Mall and the Bat Yamon Mall. In recent years and as part of intensive activity by the Bat Yam Municipality to promote tourism in the town Bat Yam offers visitors trip routes combining historical sites with green and beautiful corners in the town.
